Midnight Chestnut

If you recently saw a poll on my Insta story about which Tieks I got, Chestnut was right! I debated back and forth between Fuchsia and Chestnut, but I have a weakness for a pair of shoes I can wear with almost anything! I have looked at the Chestnut for a while now and just knew I needed them. I think I will go back for the Fuchsia soon...

The dress I am wearing is another favorite style, my mom and I both have 3 different ones in the Del Lago Dress. It is so fun and easy to style! I saw this new one when it came out and I had to have it! I have worn it already a handful of times and love wearing it. To match my NEW Tieks I brought out my well-loved Kate that matches perfectly! This purses is perfect for year round because the color goes with almost everything! I love the tassel bow which adds the perfect detail! They brought it back in more colors and I love it in THIS COLOR.

You can never go wrong with a simple outfit like this. Throw on a necklace, pair of earrings, some bracelets, you are good to go! You don't even need that many accessories, the dress itself is amazing! The bell sleeves and the tassels make this dress pop, not only just the colors!

Stronger With Bailie Vol 2.

Hello Lovelies,

I hope all of you are doing fantastic! We have a lot to cover on this Monday so let’s get started! So in my Last post, we talked about having a healthy daily routine. ( if you haven’t read it ...go read it now!) So this week we’re going to continue with healthy habits. We are going to talk a little today about healthy eating habits! (which is one of the most important routine and habits to fix if you ask me!!)

Balancing the menu

When you combine good healthy habits and routines with good exercise, you have yourself a great combo. Although, keeping it all together in the kitchen is a different story! It’s a good thing to have good routines and good exercise but without good eating habits, it is very hard to keep together!

So we are going to start by touching a bit on nutrition. While it’s important to exercise, bad eating habits make your workouts worthless! One of my favorite health and nutrition Youtuber/Blogger, Katie Dunlop, always says “You can’t out train a bad diet!”  I could not agree more with this statement! Food choices determine the nutrients we consume and our bodies require more than 40 essential nutrients! The nutrients that are vital in order to maintain a healthy body, are ones in which our body can’t  produce on its own. This means we must consume these nutrients by the food we eat.

When choosing which foods to eat you want to eat nutrient dense foods! Nutrient density is a measure of nutrients provided by a food relative to the calorie content. For example, low nutrient density foods are high in calories, fats, and sugars but minimal in nutrients. Whereas a high nutrient density foods are lower in calories, fats, and sugar but provide tons of nutrients. Let me give you a few comparisons ...

Low-Density FoodsHigh-Density Foods
5 chicken nuggets: 230 calories/12g protein Skinless chicken breast: 162 calories/ 25g protein
Slice of Apple Pie: 411 Calories/ 4g fiberMedium apples: 95 calories/ 2g fiber
Medium order of fries: 380 calories/ 9mg vitamin CMedium baked potato: 161 Calories/ 17 mg vitamin C

Okay, Enough With the Boring (but important) Stuff…

Okay, so now that I have given you my spill on (almost)  everything you need to know before getting into healthy eating habits, we are ready to talk about FOOD! (my favorite part)

So let’s talk about BREAKFAST

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Now I know you get tired of hearing this but it’s absolutely, positively TRUE! You can have the best schedule ever! You can go to the gym first thing in the morning all you want! But if you aren’t providing yourself with nutrients in the morning, you’re setting yourself up for a groggy morning and afternoon crash.

Protein is a must in the morning! A few healthy breakfast choices high in protein are…

Eggs, Peanut Butter, Almond Butter, Oats, Yogurt, milk (just to name a few)

Now to LUNCH

So if you’re like me, lunch is my pick me up! By this point in the day, I need a good healthy meal! If you workout in the morning you need to refuel your body with lunch or you need to prepare your body for your afternoon workout!

Sometimes, at least for me, supper is the hardest meal to make sure it is nutrient rich! Usually, my mom cooks supper every night for my whole family… so sometimes it’s not as healthy as it could be because the meal is for everyone and my 13-year-old brother has no desire to eat vegetables! But making small alterations to your meal and eating in moderation are a few simple steps you can take to help with your new eating habits!

Lastly, don’t forget about your SNACKS

So in a day, you should eat about 6 small meals a day! Now this sounds crazy probably to some of you, but when I say small I mean small. Usually, snacks should be packed with fiber, protein and healthy sugars!

So now I am going to give you an example of what I eat in a day…

1 hard-boiled egg

-1 cup medium roast black coffee

-1 rice cake topped with

1 TBSP almond butter (i don’t like peanut butter)

1  TBSP French vanilla, gluten-free, skim milk yogurt

1 tbsp blueberries

1 tsp of shredded coconut

½ cup quinoa

½ cup brown rice

1 hard-boiled egg

2 oz chopped green pepper

Banana (not many they’re high in sugar)

Yogurt with blueberries or raspberries

Yogurt with granola

Brown rice

Black beans

Bell peppers

Baked chicken

Now I want to share with you two fun and simple recipes…

Steamed chicken & veggies: 45 minutes • Serves 4-6

Boneless, skinless, chicken breast

1 large onion

2 large carrots

1 yellow bell pepper

1 green bell pepper

1 small head of broccoli

1 tablespoon of veggie oil

Salt & Pepper

1 tablespoon of oil in a saucepan on medium

Cut chicken breast into strips and place them in the pan

Cut all veggies into the desired size and add those in

Add salt, pepper

Add 1 cup to 1 ½ cup of water, cover and let simmer for 30-35 minutes!

Turkey Bacon Veggie Omelette: 30 minutes • Serves 4-6.

6 eggs

2 cups sharp cheddar cheese

1 lb turkey bacon

1 red bell pepper

1 green bell pepper

1 onion

2 tomatoes

Salt & Pepper

Bay leaves

Heat pan to a medium temperature

Cut veggies into small dice

Cook turkey bacon to desired texture

Mix 6 eggs with salt, pepper, and bay leaves into a bowl whisk until settled

Pour desired egg onto pan and let sit

Add a pinch of cheese and veggies and two pieces of crumbled turkey bacon

Let it sit for 30-45 seconds fold the omelet and enjoy

I hope that you enjoyed today’s post! Please comment below if you have any questions for me about health or nutrition! Thank you again for taking time out of your day to read my posts! Love you all!

Going Off Tropic

 Lilly Pulitzer New Arrivals

Fall is finally here. Yes, it has been fall since September 22nd, but it officially FEELS like fall! I live in South Carolina, we will have a few days in the 60s and then it will shoot right back to 80° degrees! I love fall weather and at times it never feels like fall where I live. I always love having pieces where I can transition for colder days to days where it is in the 70s. I have been obsessed with Marlowe dresses since last fall, which is when I got my first one. I actually paired it with this same vest I am wearing. You can see that post HERE. I love wearing quarter sleeve dresses year round. You can throw on a vest, a cardigan, even a jacket to keep warm. I have worn my dresses like this one so many ways - which you can always see a lot of my outfits on my Insta.

Lets break this outfit down... One thing I love about this vest is that it is so unique! I can wear it more casually or wear it more for a night look! This specific vest I am wearing is from last year, they brought one similar back this year which is HERE. I have worn this vest so many times and can't tell you how much I love it! I almost wish I got a back up one because it is a holy grail for me.

These boots. Guys. These were from Target for only $40! I was on a hunt for a pair of taupe/greyish colored boots that were not going to break my wallet. I found a few on Nordstrom that I liked but then these caught my eye at Target and I could not pass up the steal! Compared to other brands like Sam Edelman or Steve Madden, I would have spent maybe $80-$150! I don't like to spend a lot of money on shoes I am unsure on how much I will wear. I just wanted a simple pair to wear with my Lilly dresses to keep my legs warm. I am so happy with this purchase!

Accessories have always been a love/hate relationship with me. I love buying them and wearing them, but by golly I forget to put them on in the mornings! I have been getting slightly better at doing it everyday. One thing I always want is my watch. I always want to know the time and don't want to CONSTANTLY take my phone out and check the time. Plus at work I can't have my phone with me and we always have to know what time it is. I have been eyeing an Apple Watch lately and I maybe splurge on one in the future. To go for more of jewelry, I recently purchased a pair of Sheila Fajl hoops if you saw my recently Collective Haul post. I have had these hoops on my wish list for months and finally just went for it! I have worn them nonstop and love them so much! Some of my favorite necklaces are from Kendra Scott and I purchased the one I am wearing from Nordstrom.

Finally, my outfit was not complete without lipstick, obviously. I recently splurged and purchased a $32 lipstick. Yes. Well I did get it 20% off from Ulta. But still, I couldn't pass it up, I had it on my wish list for the longest time. I got the Audacious Lipstick by NARS in Anna and it is beautiful! They describe the color as dusty mauve and I would wear it daily!

Collective Shopping Haul

This is embarrassing. I can't believe I have purchased all this recently. Fall brings a new season, a new time to shop like crazy. Of course, online shopping is one of my favorites. I have been going crazy for new trends, new colors, and new everything! All the items below has been purchased over a period of time, not all at once, trust me.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

I don't know where to begin with these items. First, NEW TIEKS! I am so excited for these. Last Christmas I got my first pair and I am beyond obsessed, I can't wait to wear these! The Tory Burch purse in BLUSH is something I am so excited to get. I am in love with the blush tones lately, this purse I got on sale and couldn't pass it up. UPDATE: I was sent the wrong purse, so sadly did not get this lovely... With the new iPhone coming out, I had to get a new case for the iPhone X which I do plan to get when it releases. I have always loved tortoise and this case was much-needed. NEW BEAT BOOTS! I will officially have 3 pairs of bean boots now, I HAD to get these plaid fleece lined ones that were released recently. Another item off of my ongoing wish list - Sheila Fajl hoop earrings, which by the way, I love them so much already. More blush is here, I got this top from Nordstrom and it is gorgeous. I can't get enough of blush, this top also comes in so many other colors! Hopefully these Jack Rogers block heels will be a new favorite. I purchased them to go with a dress I will need for a dance soon.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

I am always a makeup junkie. Ulta just knows the way to my heart. From lipsticks to mascaras, I can never complain. I have tried some of these products so far and can't wait to keep messing with them!

I have not tried the superfoliant before, but so excited to try this one from Dermalogica! A new lippie product for me to try! If you have read my past posts before I love lipsticks, so I can't wait to try this new one from BUXOM. If you saw my Insta post this past week of a MAC lipstick, it was this one. I got Velvet Teddy recently and I am in love! It goes GREAT with the Urban Decay Naked HEAT palette and is a great FALL color! Can we talk about my second favorite makeup product? Mascara. I love them so much. I can't go out of the house without my lashes, as I say. I am a mascara junkie, well also lipstick junkie as well. When it comes to mascaras, I love trying new ones! This was an amazing deal to get this Stila mascara & eyeliner for only $25! The mascara alone is $23 and the eyeliner is $22 alone. By the way this eyeliner is my absolute FAVORITE liquid eyeliner. I will pay the $22 for it over the drugstore ones I have tried. NARS has made its way into my makeup drawer recently, and my wallet is not happy with me. I got this palette for 50% during the September 21 Days of Beauty. I usually don't go all out with contouring, bronzer, and blush; but I could not pass this deal up. Also it is a very higher rated product online! Last for my makeup haul, Anastasia has the best clear brow gel in my opinion. I have had a sample size of this one for the longest time and it does not disappoint.

By an Instagram story poll, this HUGE HAUL won. Next week I will be sharing an outfit post - which by the way, I have not done in AWHILE! Come back next week to see it!

Stronger with Bailie VOL. 1

Today I am letting Bailie kick it off with her first post for you all! I will just sit back and let you read what she has to say! I hope you enjoy and come back again soon to hear from her again! Also, as Bailie and I were planning this series, I thought it would be great for her posts to go up on Mondays. Yes, Mondays. We all hate Mondays, but what a better way to start a fresh new week with a Fitness post!

Hello lovelies,

I am super excited to share with you this week the importance of balancing school and health while reshaping your daily routine in a stress free way!

A+... acing health and studies

The first few weeks of college can be tough. Learning how to balance school and work are hard enough. On top of that, keeping your body healthy can be the hardest part. With just a few simple steps, let me show you how to ace all of your exams  and keep your body in the best shape possible.

Meeting in the middle: Balancing a healthy body and good grades

When your mind and  body feel the best together, this is when your performance is at an all time high. Rather that be in class, doing homework, in the gym or exercising in between commercials while watching your favorite  show.

It only takes a few small and simple steps in your daily routine to get to in the best shape of your college career. From your morning routine, to small diet changes, to exercise and then your nightly routine. Simple alterations in your habits can drastically change in positive way.

Let’s Talk Routines

This week we are going to start with routines! The best way to begin a new habit is with a consistent routine. This will help your body adapt faster and get use to your new schedule easiest.

As much as we all (well most of us) hate getting up super early, it really helps the morning and your day as a whole if you wake up those few extra minutes in the morning!

Get up a little earlier do a quick and simple workout!

As much as I even hate breakfast, get up a little earlier to give yourself time for a good breakfast!

This is a little how my morning routine goes…

15 minute workout

EAT BREAKFAST! (this is important)

Personal devotional time with my Jesus

Get ready for the day

The afternoons are my busiest time of the week. Between school and work, afternoons stress me out!! But with my jumbo Lilly planner, Google calendar, a few sticky notes and some patience, I always manage to get through it!

Writing out every aspect of your day or afternoon is very helpful, especially when you have tons of things going on!

DO NOT TAKE NAPS! They do not help you in any way! Trust me :)

My afternoon routine…

-Write out everything that was mentioned at school or work that needs to be done

-Get all homework that’s due in the next 9 days together (write it out in your planner or in google calendar)

-Actually do homework in order that it’s due (I’m bad about this)

-Go to the gym, run around my neighborhood or do simple workouts at my house

Night time routines are probably the most important of time of the day! This is where you can reflect on the day. We can appreciate all the good things we did that day.

This is also the time when we can get together everything we need to prepare for the next day! Getting important things together in the evening can make it easier to get up early the next day!

My nightly routine…

-finish up any homework

-15 minute workout

-get clothes out for the next day

-get together any important paper work together for the day

-watch Netflix (but not all night)

As you read I mention a 15 minute workout. This are easy workouts that you can do right at home! All you do is choose two workouts from each category and do 15 reps for 3 sets. Doing this will help when you from the beginning of your new routine. Each morning and night do a 15 minute routine and choose from the list below as to what 8 exercises you will do. Adding this simple step into your routine will help you wake up in the morning and calm you before bed.

-Ab bikes

-Flutter kicks

Thank you again for taking the time to read my posts! I hope this is the start to your routine change!

Love you all,

Check out Bailie's introduction in THIS POST.

STRONGER with Bailie

Today is a different post, I am introducing to you someone new! Bailie is a girl I met through Instagram actually and turned out we live in the same town! Bailie came to me in the interest of doing a fitness post with me! I am usually scared of fitness and a healthy lifestyle. It is definitely a LIFESTYLE.

At times, I am not the person you should come to for fitness tips or how to be healthy. I struggle with it, especially with my crazy schedule I forget at times I need to take care of myself.

Bailie is so ambitious with fitness and inspired me to go through with this. We are not sure where this may lead, but I thought we should do a series with Bailie sharing her fitness tips. Today I told her to just introduce herself to you all.

Hello Lovelies,

First I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy day to read my very first post, I am beyond excited! While I love fashion and most importantly fitness, I am very new to this blogging thing. I have always wanted to blog I just never knew how to start!

To start, just a little bit about myself! I am a sophomore at The University of South Carolina Upstate. I’m a Nursing major minoring in both Nutrition and Spanish. In addition to being a full-time student, I work at a monogram shop in my town. I also have a love for Lilly Pulitzer. I have an amazing family, we’re all very close! I have a wonderful boyfriend of a little over 2 years and we have the most adorable puppy together named Piper (she’s literally the cutest ever!).

So as I mentioned before I am a nutrition minor. I have an extreme passion for fitness and nutrition! And this is where I get to the part as to why I am here. I know that between school, work and trying to have a social life, keeping up with your body and staying fit can be tough. But there is no need to fear any longer. I am here to help get all of you in the best shape! It will take some time and dedication but in the end you will be very thankful you decided to make a change.

This won’t be a crazy hard plan. It’s not even that strict starting off. It is a way to help you to adapt to a new healthy habit for eating and exercising. Anyone can stick to a plan for 30 days, right? it’s only 30 days! With just a few alterations.

I will leave you with this.. I am new at blogging, you may be new with fitness and nutrition. And I’m not sure where this will take either one of us but I do know that doing something new and outside of your comfort zone is often times a good thing! Stepping out on a limb is good for your soul and doing something for YOU is the best thing you could ever do!

Just remember your only limit is yourself and three months from now, you will thank yourself for making the change.

Best Wishes XOXO,

Come back soon to see Bailie's FIRST fitness post!
